“We went to Murchison Falls, Uganda and hoped (hard) that we would see the Shoebill. We were so lucky – some people have been trying for years and never see one. Sadly this bird has now reached red status. Although being a protected bird in a protected area has helped, it only lays eggs every 5 years and of that only one will survive”.

These elephants were on their way back from a dip in the Kasinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth Park. It was in the late afternoon, after a day when the temperatures were in the high thirties.

We went to see the Nkuringo group of mountain gorillas at Bwindi. We got really close (this was at 70mm) and they weren’t fazed at all by  us at all, as you can see.

I took in the Masai Mara in Kenya. It is of a mother elephant and her calf and despite being a rather iconic image I loved the photo having watched the two play together before walking off.
