Chobe National Park
Covering some 11,000 sq. km of north-eastern Botswana, Chobe National Park stretches from the Chobe River at its northern boundary to the Savuti Marshes in the Mababe Depression and the Moremi Reserve far to the west.
Ranging from riverine forests to open plains and thick mopane bush, the terrain is hugely varied and famous for playing host to a dazzling array of animals and birdlife. Enormous herds of elephant and buffalo are commonplace in Chobe, especially along the river in the dry winter months when water is scarce elsewhere. Game viewing is usually by 4X4 vehicle but also by boat along the Chobe River which can be particularly exciting when large herds of animals come to the river to drink and bathe.
