Visa Requirements - Holders of UK passports do require a visa for entry into Mozambique and you should have a full passport with at least six months validity from the date of your return to the UK. The current cost of a single entry visa from the Mozambique Embassy is £35 and remains valid for up to 30 days. Please note that World Odyssey offers an express visa service for all our destinations.
Non-British passport holders should check their visa requirements with their local Embassy or High Commission. Please also be aware that you need to have at least two blank pages in your passport.
Health Requirements - A Yellow Fever Certificate is required to enter Mozambique if you have arrived from or via an infected country. There are no other mandatory vaccinations required although Tetanus, Typhoid, Polio, Meningitis and Hepatitis A are generally recommended. Malaria does exist in Mozambique and it is therefore essential that you seek qualified medical advice on its prevention.
We strongly recommend that you contact your doctor or the MASTA (Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad) Travellers Health Line on 0870 606 2782 for all professional medical advice.

Climate - a rough guide
Although there are many regional variations the climate in Mozambique can be split into two main seasons as follows:
APRIL - OCTOBER The dry season in Mozambique generally runs from April until October, in line with the majority of other southern African regions. During this period maximum daytime temperatures usually hover between 24 to 27 degrees Celsius (75 to 81 degrees Fahrenheit) on the coast although it is usually cooler inland. It is usually sunny throughout this period.
NOVEMBER - MARCH During the rainy season temperatures rise to between 27 to 31 degrees Celsius on average (81 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit) although it can become significantly hotter in places, for instance in the north around Pemba and the west around Tete and in the Zambezi Valley. The average rainfall on the coast is between 800 to 900 mm annually, mostly falling during these months. At this time there is also a risk of cyclones along the northern coast and flooding on the mainland plains and along the major river valleys.
Please note that in recent years the traditional seasons in Mozambique, as elsewhere in the world, have become less predictable than before.
When to go
Mozambique enjoys a tropical to sub-tropical climate with high coastal temperatures for much of the year, whilst the interior stays warm to mild, even in the cooler dry season from April to September. The best time to visit the coast is generally between April and November when there is minimal rainfall and humidity is low. Most of the rains occur from December to March although these are usually confined to afternoon storms or showers.
