Diving and the Marine Life
The magic of the Maldives lies in the reefs that make up the archipelago of approximately 1190 islands. Each island generally has its own 'house reef' and it is both within and just beyond the reefs that the marine life is so spectacular.
Many species of tropical reef fish live within the lagoons which offer superb snorkelling opportunities, whilst just beyond the reef as the depth of water increases, the large pelagics such as turtles and Manta rays as well as dolphin, barracuda and whale sharks make for some of the world's finest and most exciting scuba diving.
