Sikkim

Sikkim is a wedge of land in the foothills of the Himalayas, squeezed between Nepal to the west and Bhutan to the east. A world of mountains and monasteries, forests and butterflies, Sikkim is one of the most beautiful places in India in which to go trekking.

The birdlife is prolific and the montane wildflowers grow in profusion; in springtime (March/April) the hills also come alive with the vivid colours of the flowering rhododendrons. The best months to trek here, as in Nepal, are October and November or mid-February to April.
