Wildlife National Parks
With a diversity of environments ranging from deciduous forests to savannah grasslands, Himalayan wilderness to coastal swamps and plains, India has some of the most stunning National Parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the world, playing host to a remarkable variety of flora and fauna.
Although the species differ in each park, leopard, tiger, lion, spotted deer, sambur deer, elephant, monkeys, gaur, sloth bears and a dazzling array of birdlife are some of the species that may be seen.
Wildlife activities include elephant-back rides, game drives in jeeps and boat rides, allowing safe and excellent viewing at all times. Sightings of any particular animal or bird can never be guaranteed, especially of the elusive leopard or Royal Bengal tiger, but the months from January until March when most of the country becomes drier and water becomes more scarce, is a good time to visit (some Parks are closed during the monsoon period, normally from July until October).
