Although the golden sands and warm waters of the Gulf are an inevitable pull, there are thousands of square kilometres of open desert that are ripe for exploration. Another fascinating contrast to a stay on the coast is a visit to Hatta Fort Hotel on the edge of the Hajjar Mountains.
