Visa Requirements - British and most European passport holders do require a visa for entry into Jordan. Tourist visas are valid for three months (from the date of issue) for stays of up to two weeks from the date of entry but can easily be extended. The easiest way to obtain a visa is on arrival at the airport for a fee of JD10. Alternatively visas can also be obtained from the Jordanian Embassy in London. You should have a full passport with a minimum of six months validity from the date of your return to the UK.
Health Requirements - There are no mandatory vaccinations required for entry into Jordan although Tetanus, Typhoid, Polio and Hepatitis A are sometimes recommended.
We strongly recommend that you contact your doctor or the MASTA (Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad) Travellers Health Line on 0870 606 2782 for all professional medical advice.
Time - From October to March Jordan is 2 hours ahead of GMT, the rest of the year it is 3 hours ahead of GMT.

Climate - a rough guide
Jordan being such a small country it has a wide range of climates. Temperatures vary from extremely hot to near freezing depending where you are and during what time of the year.
In Amman daytime temperatures during the summer months can be as high as 90° F, whereas during January and February for example they can be as low as 53° F average. Snow in Amman is not unheard of and at night, especially during the winter months, it can get as cold as 37° F. Rainfall usually only occurs between November and April.
In Aqaba it is much warmer and dry all year round, with average daytime temperatures in January of around 68° F, whereas in August it can get as hot as 98° F average. There is very little rain only during the winter months.
The Jordan Valley is extremely hot in the summer, daily temperatures are generally at least 95° F and have been recorded as high as 115° F. Rainfall is low all year round.
Temperatures in the desert are extreme; during the summer they are as high as 110° F, yet in winter cold winds from Central Asia sweep through the desert. There is as good as no rainfall all year round.
When to go - The best time to visit Jordan is in spring (March to May) and autumn (October/November) when the temperatures are very pleasant throughout the country and the winds aren’t too cold.. Whilst Amman varies remarkably between summer and winter, Aqaba is generally warm all year round. As elsewhere the temperatures in the desert range from very hot in the day to freezing at night.
