The Yucatan Peninsula

The Yucatan Peninsula in the south-east of the country is one of the most traditional regions of the Mexican Republic.   Ancient Mayan ruins only hint at the complexity and enormity of the civilization that once flourished in the dense jungles and dazzling coasts of this tropical treasure.   Towering pyramids set both in the jungle and on the turquoise shores of the Mexican Caribbean have fascinated visitors for centuries.  

Meanwhile, the magic of Mexico's Caribbean Coast provides ample opportunity for snorkelling, scuba-diving, swimming and relaxing.   The crystalline rivers and caverns that dot the peninsula add a special mystery and offer opportunities for exploration and discovery.
