The Mainland Coastline
Venezuela's Caribbean Coast stretches over 2000 km, and it is a paradise of glorious white sand beaches, forested slopes, National Parks and wonderfully isolated islands.
Choroni is a charming village of one-storey pastel houses built within the Henri Pittier National Park, the country’s oldest nature reserve, with more than 100,000 hectares of cloud forest and a heaven for bird watching.
To the west of Choroni lies Morrocoy National Park, rich in mangroves, colonies of sea-birds and coral islands, a paradise for snorkelers, divers, water-skiers, bird-watchers and beach-goers alike.
Mochima National Park, to the east of Caracas, comprises 53 islands and islets, some still virgin, a mountainous area with exuberant vegetation which plunges into the sea, inlets, bays, fishing villages and spectacular white sand beaches, offering excellent fishing, snorkelling and diving.
The Paria Peninsula, to the east of the Venezuelan coast line, is a remote area with some of the most beautiful palm fringed beaches of the Caribbean coast. Tropical forest covering the hills is home to the highest concentration of hummingbirds in South America.
