Why travel with us?
1. We are a small owner-managed company dedicated to providing a personal, professional and detailed specialist knowledge about the countries in which we operate. Having lived and operated safaris in Africa and travelled extensively throughout the Indian Ocean, Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and South America we are in the exciting position of being able to share our knowledge and love of these countries with you, the prospective traveller.
2. We arrange tailor-made safaris and treks for individuals or small groups and each and every itinerary is arranged according to your precise requirements. We like to discuss and formulate the itinerary together with you to ensure that your wishes and expectations are met from the outset.
3. We are fully bonded with ATOL, which guarantees complete financial protection for the monies that you pay for your holiday. We are also a member of ATTA.
4. The hotels, lodges and camps in which you stay, and the guides who share their knowledge with you on a trek or safari, are the ultimate keys to any successful trip. These are the factors that ensure you have an experience that you will always remember . Through our own travels, we have individually hand-picked our overseas ground operators who are dedicated to providing the same level of technical expertise and professionalism as ourselves and we have chosen the hotels, camps and lodges that we feel will offer the very best experience in a particular place at a given time of the year.
5. We are an independent tour operator which allows us the freedom to pick and choose what we believe to be the best properties in any particular country. We have no financial ties with any hotel groups or airlines and this allows us to be totally objective in our selection of accommodation. If we feel that a certain property no longer lives up to its billing then we will steer you away to what we feel is a better or more suitable establishment. By close and continual monitoring of standards in all countries in which we operate, we are able to ensure that you will always receive the advice that is right for you.
6. Over the past twenty years or so, we have all woken up to the need to conserve and protect the beautiful environments in which we live, but responsible tourism goes further than that and is about taking an active part in the preservation of eco-systems and ways of life which, as travellers, we come to visit. As part of our philosophy not only does World Odyssey ensure that all its partners overseas are 'environmentally friendly', but we also support a few key projects and charities in several different countries involving both wildlife and disadvantaged peoples and, although it may be small compared to some of the multinationals, it helps to make a difference. We are proud of the difference we help to achieve and will continue to promote sustainable and responsible tourism to ensure that everything we cherish in these beautiful countries is still there for generations to come.
Our philosophy
We operate most of our trips within developing countries where adherence to time, certain customs and values or standards of service can be very different to our own preconceptions of how these should be, and adjusting to these differences can sometimes be frustrating.
Also, global weather patterns are becoming increasingly unpredictable, roads are generally in far worse condition than our own manicured motorways and schedules can sometimes change without warning. It is important to remember that the very reason for travelling is to immerse yourself within these different cultures and lifestyles and enjoy them at face value.
Although we recommend the very best available, some of the camps and lodges we use are remote and can be rustic in the sense that the trappings of a 'first world' existence are absent. However, you will always find that the staff are totally committed to ensuring that you enjoy your visit to the utmost.
We therefore ask you to leave the hustle and bustle of modern living behind and come and discover these beautiful and exhilarating places with an open and enquiring mind.
