Honduras Holidays

Stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific and ranging from cool, high mountains to the flat savannahs, wildlife-rich cloud forest and powder white Caribbean beaches, Honduras is one of the largest countries in Central America, but often overlooked and rarely visited. However for those who do venture here, the rewards are huge.

Description

The Copan ruins, considered by many as one of the most spectacular cities of the ancient Mayas, are located in the western part of the country close to Guatemala. UNESCO declared them a World Heritage site in 1980 and they are often known as the Paris of the Mayan world. Copan is famous for its wonderfully intricate carvings and beautifully preserved stone stelae. With the gin-clear waters of the Caribbean lapping at their palm-fringed beaches, the Bay Islands are a string of pretty islands that are home to wonderful coral reefs that abound with colourful marine life. Not only is this a diving paradise, but also ideal for sailing, fishing and simply chilling out on heavenly beaches.
