RWANDA
Rwanda, so famously known for its mountain gorillas, is an incredibly beautiful country with green misty mountains, ancient forests, volcanic lakes, and fantastic wildlife including Golden Monkeys, chimpanzees and 12 other species of primates. Rwanda has recovered from its troubled times in the mid - nineties and is now one of Africa's finest ecotourism destinations.

SYRIA
It is hard not to be fascinated by Syria! Bordering Turkey, Iraq, the Lebanon and Jordan, Syria is one of the Middle East's most beguiling and historically rich countries. Often described as "the cradle of civilisations", it boasts an incredible wealth of historical & archeological sites such as the Citadel of Aleppo, the spectacular roman sites of Palmyra and the crusader castle of Krak des Chevaliers. Other highlights of Syria include Damascus with its vibrant souk; stunning desertscapes; fantastic food and very charming people.

BHUTAN
Bhutan, also known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon, is a remarkable country full of magical legends, breathtaking scenery, unique architecture and some of the most welcoming people on earth. The Kingdom is very slowly opening up to the modern world and has taken strong steps to preserve its pristine environment, rich culture and gentle Buddhist way of life. With 70 % of the country under forest cover, Bhutan's pristine ecology is home to rare and endangered flora and fauna and a paradise for trekkers and nature lovers alike.

ANTARCTICA
No place on earth compares to this vast white wilderness, Antarctica is simply stunning! Known as the coldest and the windiest place on earth, it is a region of extreme beauty and one of the wildest corners of the world with giant icebergs, mountains and glaciers. And surprisingly this harsh, remote and fragile environment is teeming with wildlife (colonies of penguins, seals, whales, seabirds and many more). Cruising Antarctica's icy waters is the perfect way to witness this unique icescape and its wonderful wildlife.

Many people are aware of Cuba through its history of troubled politics, but nothing can prepare one for the extraordinary sense of cultural wealth, beautiful natural scenery and its enchantingly friendly people. Havana was a revelation for me - I was fascinated not only by its wonderful old colonial forts and churches, but the "street scene" with its colourful 1950's Cadillacs, Ernest Hemingway's old drinking haunts, plaza cafes and the all pervading vibrant music were hugely enjoyable. A visit to a cigar factory is another real highlight. To see the skilled, hand rolling is fascinating, whilst the smell is totally delicious! I finished the trip with a couple of days on the glorious powder white beaches on the northern coast.
Cuba is simply a Caribbean gem...
